Kendal Lawn Tennis Club
Every Saturday morning during the school summer term we're holding junior sessions for primary school age children. Learn how to hold a racquet, hit the ball and then improve your game. We practice hitting, have games, activities and fun competitions to help improve your ball skills and tennis.
1. Contact Club Coach Jon Griffin, get some extra coaching or join his box league. [email protected]
2. Join the L.T.A's British Tennis. You'll get a rating and find other players in Cumbria of your standard and competitions where you can play them. www.lta.org.uk/players-parents/competition
3. Max Shaw, qualified and CRB checked tennis coach offers great junior coaching. Contact him on 07917734527.
You can go down and use the courts pretty well any time. If you have an adult with you you're welcome to use the ball machine. Please remember to tidy up and lock up afterwards.
Meet Erica Ferreira! She's our Junior Secretary. She's a keen tennis player and registered coach.
If you'd like to get in touch with Erica for information or to pass on ideas, you can email her via the club at [email protected]
She is also trained in Safeguarding and Protection in Tennis by the LTA and acts as the club Welfare Officer.
Congratulations to Tom Jerram (13) who was awarded the 2019 Harold Walker Trophy which is awarded to the junior player who's made most progress over the year.
Last year's sessions were really good and more than 40 young players aged from 4 - 14 enjoyed getting out on court. STARTS APRIL 27th. Absolute beginners and those budding Andy Murrays with a little more experience are equally welcome. 10.00 - 11.00.
It’s free of charge to members. If you're not a member why not come along and try it out for a week or so to see if you'd like to join? We provide the racquets or bring your own if you prefer.
Special awards for their contribution to junior tennis sessions: Elsie Gibson, Freddie Hurley, Evelyn Green and Oskar Smale.
